Astrology and A Reform of the United States Election Process

The current election cycles of the United States government promote action with unintended consequences and preclude the wisdom of judgment and compassionate dialog, discussion, consensus, and representation.

The popular uprising against Wall Street, greed, and failure to represent the people in the U.S. is plain face evidence that the government is not a government of the people but rather, an exclusive club whose membership requires the constant raising of funds -- i.e. campaign contributions -- to ensure re-election and continued membership in the most privileged club in America.

Major changes are coming with the solar eclipse on November 25th in the sign of Sagittarius, meaning spiritual quotes will ring out from the big mouths of Congress. Its really about trying to save their asses; but Sagittarius demands the Truth. I think Obama is the only one there who believes in the truth and hopes others will too.

In my opinion, we must ensure that elected officials have the time and opportunity to pursue the people’s business and not their own self aggrandizement. In this regard, I would propose a constitutional amendment to extend the terms of office of the Presidency, House of Representatives, and Senate by two years. Why do we subscribe to a rule written more than 200 years ago, when the pace of modern life is so rapid that it does not afford time for reflection and contemplation? The frequency of the current election cycle inhibits our representatives ability to plan and propose sensible long term goals for our democracy and republic.

In other words, the House would stand for reelection every 4 years, the Senate every 8 years and the President every 6 years. This prolongation of terms would at least decrease the constant campaign financing efforts undertaken by all parties that -- in addition to their recesses and vacations -- limit their effective time to conduct the people’s business to one half of their current terms.

This proposal is offered as a needed reform to our current status of inefficient elections and ineffective government. The partisan divisions in the Congress ensure that the individual elected member’s loyalty is to the ideology of his or her party and not to the citizens of the United States.

This suggestion is offered as a workable alternative to class warfare, civil disobedience and the perception of failure by the government.
